Tea factory
Sri Lanka is the world’s fourth-largest producer of tea and in Nuwara Eliya tea is the very core of the local lives. Tea production is one of the main sources of foreign exchange for Sri Lanka and it employs, directly or indirectly, over 1 million people. We spent two weeks exploring Sri Lanka and arrived in Nuwara Eliya by train from Ella. While we only stayed in Nuwara Eliya for one day, we felt it was enough to do the things we wanted to do. In Sri Lanka, they make three varieties of tea – white, green and black. In this article, you’ll be able to learn everything you need to know before visiting this Nuwara Eliya tea factory and plantation at Damro.

ELLA
Nine Arches Bridge
This is perhaps the most iconic structure in Ella and definitely the most instagrammed one! The Nine Arches Bridge, fondly referred to as the Bridge in the Sky, is a viaduct bridge that was constructed in 1921 and is the perfect example of colonial infrastructure in Sri Lanka. It would be a grave disservice to say this bridge is beautiful; the magnificent stone bridge stands tall in between a valley and is flanked by thick jungle on one end and trimmed tea bushes on the other end.
The Nine Arches Bridge also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. It is located in Demodara, between Ella and Demodara railway stations.
Little Adams Peak.
Trailing through the picturesque premises of 98 Acres Resort is the Little Adams Peak. From the top one could get a 360 degrees view of the whole terrific
Ravana Ella Falls
Ravana Falls is entrenched in myth and folklore, it is believed that the demon King Ravana, from the epic Ramayan, hid Sita in the cave behind the waterfall after he kidnapped her and brought her back to Lanka. Only a 10 minute drive from the Ella main road, Ravana Falls is a great to visit when in Ella. The drive to the waterfall is one of the most spectacular drives in the country since you will be driving on narrow roads with hairpin turns which will make you feel like you’re on a roller coaster!

Jungle Beach
Climbed down toward the true destination of your day trip — Jungle Beach. Not another person in sight, just twin stretches of deserted sand trapped between the ocean and Rumassala Rock. Having just experienced the soul-crushing lameness of Unawatuna, this beach was exactly what we needed. Peace, solitude and gorgeous nature.
Galle Fort
Busy Fort is set on a peninsula within the walled remains of a fortress first developed by the Portuguese in the 1500s and later adapted by the Dutch and British. The National Museum displays artifacts like masks and carvings, while the National Maritime Archaeology Museum occupies a 17th-century warehouse. The lofty Galle Fort Clock Tower dates from the 1880s, and a lighthouse overlooks a small swimming beach.
Weligama Fishtheraphy
Complete your Galle day tour with a visit to see the amazing Stilt Fishermen in Weligama. The fishermen sit on a cross bar tied to a vertical pole which is planted in the coral reef and the stilt with one hand while seated and carry out rod and line fishing with the other hand. The practice of stilt fishing started about 50 years after the end of the Second World War when fishermen found that fishing off the rocks that protrude over the sea was not enough to catch fish in large numbers, so they started planting discarded metal pipes into the reef and using them to lean against and fish. Over time the fishermen discovered that timber worked just as well as developed the poles into the more modern day versions that we see today. It is a unique sight to behold and one that should not be missed as we watch and marvel at Man's dexterity to overcome any hurdle.
