Demodara Loop
Demodara railway station is the 76th and third last station on the main line and is located at a distance of 277.71 km (172.56 mi) from Colombo. It is 912.5 meters (2,994 ft) above mean sea level and 8 km (5.0 mi) from Badulla, the capital of Uva Province. All trains plying on the main route, including the Podi Manike and Udarata Manike express trains, stop at the station.
This place is more prominent because of the spiral railway line at this place popularly known as 'Demodara Loop'. The railway tracks under itself, goes around the loop, and emerges from a tunnel that runs directly under Demodara station. The rail loop is approximately 900 meters (3,000 ft) long and the tunnel is 320 meters (1,050 ft) long. It is believed to be the only loop in the world with a station located exactly on a spiral loop tunnel.[1][2] During the construction of the railway extension to Badulla, engineers and surveyors found that the elevation between the Demodara hills was too high to negotiate the line, and the maximum gradient permitted by the Ceylon Government Railway was one foot in 44 feet (1/44). ), had to create an innovative track design. Local legend has it that one engineer, Devapura Jayasena Wimalasurendra, was inspired after removing the thalappa (tip) of a Kankani (supervisor) in a local tea estate and retying it on his head.
Little Adam`s Peak
Reaching a height of 1141 meters in the air, Mini Adams Peak offers adventure seekers a breathtaking view of dense jungle and steep cliffs. Offering moderate hiking and trekking opportunities for today's tourists, adventurers are advised to start their journey from the town of Ella, which is about 3 km from the summit. Also, the best time to visit Mini Adam's Peak is morning or evening.
Mini Adam's Peak is very similar in nature to Adam's Peak and thus got its name from being called this name constantly by the villagers. Uva can be seen on the hilltops of the low plains around the northern and southern provinces. This is 2 km from Ella Namunukula road and many foreign and local tourists prefer to walk and travel along this hill.
Day 5
Galle Dutch Fort
The bustling fort is set on a peninsula within the remains of a fort wall, first developed by the Portuguese in the 1500s and later adapted by the Dutch and British. The National Museum displays artefacts such as masks and carvings, while the National Museum of Maritime Archeology occupies a 17th-century warehouse. The tall Galle Fort clock tower dates from the 1880s and a lighthouse overlooks a small swimming beach.

Hikkaduwa's beaches have been attracting tourists since the 1960s when they were first discovered. The beaches stretch for kilometers and host a host of recreational activities to keep tourists busy. These water sports include snorkeling and scuba diving for adventure seekers. The clear waters invite nature lovers to take a dip in the water to witness the vibrant and colorful aquatic life. The Coral Sanctuary has beautiful coral reefs, home to a variety of fish and large turtles. The islands off the coast breed pockets of wildlife and are a wonderful way to interact with it.

Colombo Lighthouse
Colombo Lighthouse is a Lighthouse in Colombo in Sri Lanka and it is operated and maintained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. It is located at Galbokka Point south of the Port of Colombo on the waterfront along the marine drive, in Colombo fort.
Gangaramaya Temple
Gangarama is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Colombo, founded in the late 19th century by the famous Sastrapati Hikkaduwa prelate Sri Sumangala.
After Sri Sumangala Thero, his main disciple, Reverend Sri Jinarathana Nahimiphi, took over the management of the temple. It was he who laid the foundation to turn the small temple into an international counting institution.
The next Mahanayake was Thero. Venerable Devondara Keerthi Sri Sumangala Jinaratana Vacchissara was the teacher of the Reverend Father. Mr. Galboda Gnanissara, who worked to make Gangarama what it is today: Traditionally, a place of worship, a seat of learning and a cultural center, much more than a temple.
Independence Square
The Freedom Memorial Hall (also known as the Freedom Memorial Hall) is a national monument in Sri Lanka built to commemorate Sri Lanka's independence from British rule on 4 February with the restoration of full governing responsibility[2] to an elected legislature from Sri Lanka. 1948. It is located at Freedom Square (formerly Torrington Square) in Kurunduwatta, Colombo. It also houses the Independence Memorial Museum.
The memorial was erected on the site of a formal ceremony marking the beginning of self-government on 4 February 1948 when Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester opened the first Parliament.
At the head of the monument is the country's first Prime Minister, Rt. the Hon. Don Stephen Senanayake "Father of the Nation" has held many annual National Independence Day celebrations here. Apart from being a monument, it also served as the ceremonial hall for the Senate of Ceylon and the House of Representatives of Ceylon until the Parliament was moved to the new Parliament Complex. Nowadays it is a place for religious festivals and annual national day celebrations.
Colombo
Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, has a long history as a port on the old East-West exchange courses, administered successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its engineering, mixing pilgrimage structures with high-rises and shopping malls. Monuments dedicated to Sri Lankan history border the Colombo National Museum, Viharamahadevi Park and its giant Buddha.
